School Parties at EHR

We are able to cater for the visits of large school groups to the railway and offer discounts for groups of 30 or more. Why not combine a visit to the village of Elsecar and the Heritage Centre with a ride on the train for you and your pupils?

As the Elsecar Heritage Railway is South Yorkshire's only Heritage Railway, we can offer the schoolchildren of the area to travel on trains from an age now past. The group organiser can specify whether they would prefer a diesel or steam locomotive to haul the train for their visit, although a surcharge may apply for the use of a stream locomotive. A visit to our railway is, for many children, the first opportunity they have to come close up to a working steam locomotive, the types of which powered the industrial revolution that shaped the way we live today.

In addition to a ride on the train and a tour around the workshops if you wish, we can offer fact sheets on the history of the railway, and of its locomotives and rolling stock for the use of your group.

We can cater for groups of 10 - 100+  pupils of all ages as well as offering the facilities to accommodate disabled travellers on the train. As a service provider we also carry full public liability insurance for your peace of mind and would be happy to discuss any pre-visit questions that you may have.
